“One of the most important aspects of the course, in my opinion, is that it has been created for neurodiverse people by someone who is neurodiverse and has that built into its very foundations. It is very draining to be neurodiverse in a world that is not bult for people like you. Having someone who can guide you in ways that take your differences into account, allowing you to see your sensitivity or empathy and many other aspects where you differ from “the norm” as something to be nurtured. As a strength. It is so very important for neurodiverse people to get to talk to others who are also neurodiverse. To help you feel like you’re not mad, or imagining things, or as the kids say nowadays “being extra.” The fact that I could talk about how I see things and how I feel things with complete honesty and have someone understand what I mean is an amazing gift. The fact that I hear pretty chimes when I find something I love, or am engrossed in something fulfilling, is not something that would be really accepted in a “normal” course, let alone understood. For that I am very grateful.
Neurodiverse people need to feel seen and understood. We need to feel confident within ourselves about our strength and to see our differences as a positive thing to be able to survive the world after graduation. The strength that this course can give those who are neurodiverse will mean fewer people stuck in the corporate machine who feel trapped, like a square peg in a round hole, and have their mental health and self-esteem eroded. We think outside the box. Sometimes we don’t even know there’s a box to start with, and that makes us an asset to companies, but only if we have the confidence to speak up. This course is a way to support all of those people.”
